Find me on:

Week of September 20, 2021 KPI Summary
  • This week, the industry experienced 19 ETF launches and no closures, shifting the 2021 YTD Open-to-Close ratio to 2.85 and total US ETFs to 2,658.

  • With the surge of launches in the last few weeks, the 1-year Open-to-Close is pushing to new heights with 2.85 being an all-time high (since we began recording in January 2018). According to our Security Master, there have been 300 ETFs launched in 2021 that are currently open and only 66 closures YTD, an even more staggering open-to-close ratio of 4.55.

  • Assets take a small dip this past week and three issuers by brand are added, but all other KPIs remain constant.

  • Looking from a YTD view, while ETF assets have increased 23.32%, Toroso ETF Industry Index is up 27.69% and the S&P Financial Select Sector Index leads at 31.54%.

Why Follow the ETF Industry KPIs

The team at Toroso Investments began tracking the ETF Industry Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) in the early 2000's and have been consistently reporting on, and analyzing these metrics ever since. The table above was the impetus for the creation of the TETF.Index, the index that tracks the ETF industry. Each week, we will share the statistics we believe to be the most useful for identifying industry trends, in addition to the performance of the TEFT.Index.
